1024px-Henry_Inman_-_Sequoyah_-_Google_Art_Project.jpg

This class is inspired by the groundbreaking work of Cherokee scholar Sequoyah (ca. 1778–1843), whose creation of the Cherokee syllabary continues to preserve and influence the language, including among Chickamauga Cherokee descendants.

Through these classes, students explore the rich history of the Cherokee language while gaining insights into the culture, traditions, and resilience of Indigenous peoples.

Interactive lessons provide students with foundational skills in Cherokee vocabulary, sentence structure, and pronunciation, fostering a deeper connection to this vibrant heritage.
